Hi Folks
I am looking for a wee bit of help from the forum stalwarts on the above man.

I strongly suspect Driver Evan Boyd  37556   Royal Field Artillery  Is a  Soldier -born Neilston East Renfrewshire and has been wrongly transcribed In  National records.
The Ancestry records list him on The Soldiers that died in the Great War"  as being Barrhead Renfrewshire born age 27.

Name: Evan Boyd
Age: 27
Birth Date: abt 1891
Death Date: 21 Mar 1918
Cemetery: Pozieres Memorial
Burial Country: France
Father: William Boyd
Mother: Lavinia Boyd
Regiment: Royal Field Artillery
Regimental Number: 37556
Region or Memorial: France.
These records are wrong and the one above belongs to a Frank Boyd of the Irish Regiment who also died 21st /3/18

I Suspect my man
Evan Boyd was born 12noon 1st July 1881 at Kirktonfield Neilston East Renfrewshire  to Parents James and Sarah (Nee McDermid) Boyd, they lived at Kirktonfield cottage Neilston.
Household Members:
James Boyd
Sarah Boyd
Evan Boyd
Robert Boyd
By 1901 Evan was a 19 Year old Ploughman living at Patison Farm Neilston Renfrewshire with the Henderson's (farmers)
6th Nov 1915 Evan married Catherine Clark at Glasgow, Soldiers effects have  37556 Evan Boyd -With wife Catherine

Can anyone please help ?

Kind Regards

Matt

Here's Evan getting in a scrape;

13th December 1894 - Southern Reporter

"At a J. P. Court at Barrhead on Saturday Evan Boyd, Neilston, aged thirteen, was charged with playing truant from school, and was ordered to be sent to the R. C. Industrial School in Abercromby Street, Glasgow, and kept there till attained the age sixteen."

SDGW doesn't show details such as parents, age or birth date so it can only be SDGW records combined with another record set.

SDGW on Find My Past shows Frank Boyd was born at Stradbally, Queen's County.
SDGW on Find My Past shows Evan Boyd was born at Barrhead, Renfrew.

No problem at all.

Have you looked at the original burial return for the CWGC records for each man to see what they say ?

Father: William Boyd
Mother: Lavinia Boyd
Regiment:

Royal Field Artillery.     these are Frank Boyd's parents , I think Ancestry has wrongly listed the CWGC records on their site

Cheers Matt

In the CWGC database, Evan Boyd 37556 has no parents listed.

Looks like another Ancestry error, they've mis attributed Frank Boyd's details to Evan, stating that that is the entry in the CWGC database.
