Steven Broomfield Posted 21 September , 2018 Share Posted 21 September , 2018 Stopped in Kingussie last year on the way from Inverness to Edinburgh. The war memorial in the park is definitely one of the loveliest.
mbriscoe Posted 21 September , 2018 Author Share Posted 21 September , 2018 Yes nice memorial. One of the people in the church said that someone had complained that no air force names on it. They were told that no room. Certain some in WWII on it.. It used to be on Witch's Hill near the town.

Are there any photos of it in its original location? (We passed through during a detour to Ruthven Castle and a coffee break. Nice little town, and it seems my daughter's partner, Rachel. spent family holidays there in her youth - she comes from Clackmannanshire so anywhere else is exotic). mbriscoe Posted 21 September , 2018 Author Share Posted 21 September , 2018 It was damaged (in a storm I think) in 1927 but was moved after WWII around 1946/7. I can't see a picture anywhere.
Steven Broomfield Posted 21 September , 2018 Share Posted 21 September , 2018 Thanks. Your regular Journal of the Highlands is setting Mrs Broomfield's next Grand Tour up nicely, if only she knew it.

If you want something obscure, the church had a leaflet that (I think) had been made up by a local school. It has mapped out pipe organs around the Cairngorm National Park - Kingussie Parish Church has a good one. Tulloch (near Roybridge) has a bell ringing centre which I think holds short courses - proper bells, not hand bells. Quite a few places now making gin and running classes where you make you own gin to take away.
