KONDOA Posted 15 January , 2005 Share Posted 15 January , 2005 Morning Chums, Due to the reorganisation of the RFA in late 1916 I have lost track of one of my men. I know when he died and roughly which area he died but dont know how he got there or which battery he was with. There is no SR apparent for this chap and so a little assumption may assist in opening new lines of enquiry. My man (see signiture) was one of a number range starting L/1557* . I have a part of the medal roll which shows adjacent numbers but only my man is listed as dead on this page. I therefore would appreciate a SDGW lookup of this number group RFA to see what localities it suggests and which Brigades it suggests for given dates;assuming others died of course. Long shot maybe but few avenues open on this one so far. Many Thanks for any assistance . Roop

KONDOA Posted 15 January , 2005 Author Share Posted 15 January , 2005 Morning Tom, Gunner William John McDonald as per signiture. Thanks Roop
museumtom Posted 15 January , 2005 Share Posted 15 January , 2005 William John is there, l/15574,RFA and RHA died of wounds, france and Flanders, 25/4/18, born Deptford, enlisted in Camberwell. SDGW does not give Brigades. I ran a search for the period of a month from the day of your mans death and all 'L' numbers amounted to about 10% of the casualties, Tom.
