Dolphin Posted 16 January , 2005 Share Posted 16 January , 2005 This is slightly off-topic, as it's a little post-War, but I thought it worth posting. I've just finished reading Peter Fleming's The Fate of Admiral Kolchak and I was struck by something towards the end of the book, where he describes the fall of Irkutsk to the brigand Colonel Skipetrov in late December 1919. As was the normal practice in the Russian Civil War, some atrocities took place after the city fell. Fleming wrote: [skipetrov] was, however, himself a vile man, and he was accompanied by two of the worst sadists produced by either side in the Civil War - Colonel Sipailov and Captain Grant, a renegade Englishman. There's no further mention of Grant. Does anyone know anything about the man? Gareth
