Guest Posted 20 March , 2020 Share Posted 20 March , 2020 I recently acquired a letter sent on 24 March 1917 by a member of the 'British Expeditionary Force' in France (?) to Guernsey under port clearance. This letter was stamped with a field post stamp (FIELD POST OFFICE - 32/ littera A MR 24 17) and censored by an officer and bearing a violet censorship stamp (PASSED FIELD CENSOR/ 1556/ crown). Can any one help me with the location of the Field Post Office 32 and if possible the censor 1556?
The Inspector Posted 20 March , 2020 Share Posted 20 March , 2020 Hi, Welcome to the forum. Suggest you Google" The Postal Museum, London." They have a copy of the British Army Postal Service by E.B.Proud which lists APO's and FPO's and their locations. Regards Barry
