Simon J Emmerson Posted 24 March , 2020 Share Posted 24 March , 2020 Hi can anyone help me please identify the cap badge. Is it 6th Dragoons or Hampshire Yeomanry the badges are very similar.
FROGSMILE Posted 24 March , 2020 Share Posted 24 March , 2020 (edited) Carabiniers (6th Dragoon Guards). I agree that they’re hard to tell apart, but the rose would usually be discernible through a magnifier. Both regiments collar badges were a similar design, but slightly smaller, which doesn’t help. GWF1967 Posted 24 March , 2020 Share Posted 24 March , 2020 The collar dog looks to be a Hampshire rose.

However, note that the Hampshire’s cap badge has a gap at the bottom between oval and title scroll, whereas for the Carabiniers the chape of the garter strap hangs down and connects with the scroll. On the OP’s photo it’s the latter that I see. Edited 24 March , 2020 by FROGSMILE
Steven Broomfield Posted 24 March , 2020 Share Posted 24 March , 2020 Can't see anything particular on the badge. However, does the shoulder title curve? It looks like it to me ... in which case, Hampshire Carabiniers, surely.
CorporalPunishment Posted 24 March , 2020 Share Posted 24 March , 2020 6th Dragoon Guards, the Garter strap is clearly evident. Pete.

Dragoon Posted 24 March , 2020 Share Posted 24 March , 2020 The 6th DG wore a CARABINIERS shoulder title at some point Chris
Steven Broomfield Posted 24 March , 2020 Share Posted 24 March , 2020 Post 1920, apparently, so that would fit with an o.r. with collar dogs
