Would appreciate any thoughts on the uniform and cap badge of this man or is it a buckle on the cap. Lookslike a WW1 photo, belongs to a family in England.

I agree with Michelle, KRRC.  Good spot!

 

He also has Rifle Regiment, generic pattern black buttons.

 

His cap is the ‘soft’ pattern issued in 1916 and he wears typical 1902 pattern British service dress (SD).
