US memorials to the Great War

The Government's giving you too much holiday time, Andy.

Paris last month. Now this trip.

Interesting that two of them, as they record the conflict as "World War 1", must be post 1945 vintage.

Later this month - New Orleans. Don't be jealous John, remember you're the one who's retired!! :D

My guess is that when the memorials were updated for WWII, Korea, and Vietnam the Great War was changed to World War I.

You may be right. Looking again at the Moscow memorial, I think I see a vertical shadow line to the right of the word "One". That might mean that a new panel was "stuck on" after WW2.

And, yes, us retired folk do do a lot of trip planning. I've already made the reservation for our rental car for the September trip - still hoping to catch up with you & Chris while we are in DC.

Found this in Dayton, Virginia.

... and these are the particulars. The gun undoubtably was a war trophy from the Versailles Treaty.

There is a railway transport car similar to that seen in post 47 on the grounds of the old state capitol in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
