Joost Posted 23 February , 2021 Share Posted 23 February , 2021 Hi I’n new to this forum. I bought recently a m16 helmet (size 64) with the mark as seen on the picture. Does anyone knows more about it? Many thanks for your help. Regards, Joost
Gunner 87 Posted 23 February , 2021 Share Posted 23 February , 2021 (edited) The stamp looks like the bottom of a bell. If it is, then the manufacturer was R. Lindenberg A.G., Remscheid-Hasten, who only made size 64. The puzzling issue is an L should follow with the size. This, of course, could be a not so clearly defined stamp, as in the second image. @Michael Haselgrove Edited 24 February , 2021 by Gunner

Gunner 87 Posted 24 February , 2021 Share Posted 24 February , 2021 Hi Joost, I've never seen a size 78 made so this maybe the origins of the steel. I answer this again in the hope that a member with more experience can help out. @AOK4
Joost Posted 24 February , 2021 Author Share Posted 24 February , 2021 Hi Gunner, the -78 stamp is indeed the stamp from the steel producer. The 1st number is not clear/missing.
Gunner 87 Posted 24 February , 2021 Share Posted 24 February , 2021 Great stuff, and I think we're pretty happy with the manufacturer, pending any other members opinion.
Joost Posted 25 February , 2021 Author Share Posted 25 February , 2021 Hi Matt, many thanks for your help. Found on this site: https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/imperial-germany-austro-hungary/m16-17-camo-bell-l-64-a-168813/ that the “Bell” helmets usually have round shaped lugs. As you can see on the pictures, this is the case.
