Flavio Posted 14 April , 2022 Share Posted 14 April , 2022 Hi guys, I kindly ask you if anyone can identify these two objects found in the British rear ww1
Pete_C Posted 15 April , 2022 Share Posted 15 April , 2022 (edited) It looks like the filler / pourer part of a British 2 gallon water/petrol can - the disc could be the leather sealing washer from the inside of the can's brass filler cap. The small lug with the hole was for a retaining chain attached to the filler cap but these were not used for military issue cans. Flavio Posted 15 April , 2022 Author Share Posted 15 April , 2022 first of all thanks for your kind reply .. in fact I also found the brass cap and I have already joined them to make a single piece. the round disk with the number 5 imprinted is actually made of thin ferrous metal, so I don't think it is the internal gasket of the tank cap itself ... I always apologize for my English derived from google translate
