niimmm Posted 5 December , 2022 Share Posted 5 December , 2022 Hello can anyone please tell me more about these two pom pom rounds?
Spaceman Posted 5 December , 2022 Share Posted 5 December , 2022 The first 37 mm shell case is WW1 German - they used a version of the POM POM called the Maxim Flak M14 as an anti-aircraft gun. The second 37 mm shell case looks to have the type of primer used by Vickers ( VSM) during WW1 - I assume the lettering has been added some time later? peregrinvs Posted 5 December , 2022 Share Posted 5 December , 2022 The projectile looks like a heavily rusted WWI German 3.7cm ball tracer projectile used in AA guns.
HenryTheGerman Posted 8 December , 2022 Share Posted 8 December , 2022 Basically the ammo was the same than being used in the old Hotchkiss revolver cannon. Ballistic performances of the rounds were rather poor. See the two tabels being attached. Regards H Schusstafel_Hotchkiss37mm.pdf
JamesRes Posted 29 December , 2022 Share Posted 29 December , 2022 This round looks remarkably similar to some images I've just posted of two I have. Do you think these are the same @peregrinvs?
