AndyBsk Posted 27 February , 2023 Share Posted 27 February , 2023 (edited) Looks like early hooked P1907 by Sanderson, the date is august 1909? i assume B6 is a proof on other side ricasso. Here are Experts on this area. Looks like reinspected or refurbished in 1910. Edited 27 February , 2023 by AndyBsk
JMB1943 Posted 27 February , 2023 Share Posted 27 February , 2023 Although this bayonet was made by Sanderson in Sheffield, it was inspected at different stages of manufacture and testing by inspectors sent up from the Royal Small Arms Factory located at Enfield, just outside of London. Each inspector had his own, numbered, stamp so that any faulty bayonet could be traced back to him. The stamp took the form of small crown / Alpha-numeric identifier / E(nfield). Different inspectors checked for different aspects of a bayonet. This inspector is B6 in this case. You have a VERY nice piece there! Regards, JMB PS Do not sharpen or use any abrasives on the blade. I don’t recognize all of the pieces, but I do see French Gras bayonet Fairbairn-Sykes dagger German Sawback bayonet Italian bayonet next to Patt 1907 Mills bomb Again, some nice-looking items there and thanks for posting the photos. Welcome to GWF, there are some real experts here in all areas of edged weapons and they are all very friendly. I have learned so much from the forums that the problem now is to remember it all.
