Royal Navy Silver War Badge card, a rare survivor.

A recent find along with a lot of paperwork regarding his pension entitlement. Sadly, there was no sign of the badge. Not the most illustrious of naval careers but I am glad that it has survived.

He would have likely qualified for the single British War medal.  Medically Invalided due to "Organic Heart Disease".

Not yet 20 yrs of age, wonder how long he survived for?

Correct but it was never claimed or issued.

James Caulkin likely never knew he was entitled to a medal.

I have a lot of associated paperwork regarding his Disability Pension, his treatment card from the Royal Naval Hospital at Haslar, Gosport, a summary of his Pensions Appeal Tribunal and death certificate.

Amongst the paperwork, there is a form from the Board of Education, Whitehall, London, S.W.1. Higher education of ex-servicemen, to the effect that he was awarded a two year course in Draughtmanship (Engineering) at the Birmingham Municipal Technical School with a grant of £30 per annum for tuition fees and a maintenance allow at a rate of £155 per annum from 7th April 1920.
