Liopa Posted 9 April , 2023 Share Posted 9 April , 2023 Dear colleagues, I would greatly appreciate your help in identifying the ranks of officers and men of the HMS Jupiter in this photo and the period when it was taken (assuming WWI?) I did my best but not sure: 1 - Petty Officer (Yeoman of Signals) 2 - Midshipman 3 - Lieutenant (not sure why he wears an aiguillette - Flag-Lieutenant?) 4 - Chief Petty Officer (Chief Yeoman of Signals) 5 - Petty Officer (Yeoman of Signals) 6 - Leading Signalman 7 - Signalman 8 - Signalman 9 - Leading Signalman Thank you! RNCVR Posted 9 April , 2023 Share Posted 9 April , 2023 @Liopa -- The Flag Lieut is correct, he was usually a Signals specialist. The Warrant Officer to his right would certainly be the Signal Bosun. CPO (Chief) Yeoman of Signals is correct. His rate badge is shown below.... PO Yeoman of Signals is correct his rate badge would be star above, 2 stars below. Similar to the Ch Yeo Sig rate badge below but without crown. 6 & 9 are Leading Signalman, rate badge - star above star below. 7 & 8 are Signalmen, rate badge - star above, likely AB's I can illustrate all of the Signals rate badges if you wish, I just have to photo them first.
