Allan1892 Posted 2 May Share Posted 2 May I am researching a John William Spencer who enlisted as a private with the 14th Battalion, London Regiment, rose to rank of Sergeant with the 14th Btn and won a Military Medal in 1916. Commissioned and posted to the 6th Btn London Regiment in October 1916 and won the Military Cross in 1917. How common would this be?

mancpal Posted 2 May Share Posted 2 May (edited) I think I read recently that a VC recipient had already won a DCM and a MM (I think with a bar to one of them). Not quite the same but made me think that their must be something ‘different’ about men of any rank who won multiple gallantry awards. Simon P.S. It was William Gregg VC, DCM, MM (I think I made up the bar bit !) Edited 2 May by mancpal
