topdeer Posted 16 May Author Share Posted 16 May I can see it's a WW1 Medal index Card it just does seem to be enough for a officer so high up
Gardenerbill Posted 16 May Share Posted 16 May It looks like it says India Remounts so if he didn't see action then maybe he didn't merit any gallantry medals. It only appears to mention 1914 Star and BWM, no mention of VM.
topdeer Posted 16 May Author Share Posted 16 May Maybe That is it then just the two medals, I just thought he would of got more then that

TullochArd Posted 19 May Share Posted 19 May (edited) Here's supporting evidence (public domain) of BWM and BVM for service in Base Remounts Depot Marseilles and subsequent service in MEF. Service in Marseilles is surely stretching it a bit for qualification for a 14 Star in November 1914 ......... unless there is something else hidden away somewhere. "The Government of India has forwarded the following list of Officers, Ladies, Non-commissioned Officers and Men whose names have been brought to notice by Lt.-Gen. Sir A. A. Barrett, K.C.B., K.C.S.I., K.C.V.O., for valuable services rendered during the operations against the Mahsuds, March-August, 1917: —" ........."INDIAN CAVALRY" ....... "Rennick Maj. A de C" Page 5926 | Supplement 30689, 17 May 1918 | London Gazette | The Gazette I believe the Mahsud campaign of 1917 was centred on the NW Frontier. It seems AdeCR is back from F&B and serving in India only to redeploy to MEF in late 1917. I looked to see if there was a IGSM 1909 clasp awarded for this campaign but it seems none was authorised ..... although a later "Mahsud 1919-20" was so that's another mystery. The bronze oakleaf was authorised for wear on the IGSM ribbon in 1920. Edited 20 May by TullochArd
