jonbowen Posted 16 June Share Posted 16 June I recently bought a pair to the above named and and having checked the medal card, as per the below was happy that I had his full entitlement. However further research on ancestry has unearthed the below photo which shows him wearing a 14 or 14-15 star as well. What are the chances of the medal card being incorrect or the star applied for after the card had been indexed, I'd hate to think there was any gilding the lily. David also served in WW2 as a 2nd Lt under number 116215, and whilst I know it is off topic I was wondering whether anyone could enlighten me as regard tracking down his WW2 entitlement. The wise words of forum members is appreciated as always.
mancpal Posted 16 June Share Posted 16 June Is there a second mic purely for his star? Not unheard of. Simon

Matlock1418 Posted 16 June Share Posted 16 June MIC shows a late application from overseas for his 'Pair' - Simla. Pension index card and ledger page show he was discharged 17.5.18 - GSW Left arm, addresses Lincoln and later Karachi MoD/TNA seem to have a possible post-war service record 11001 AOP000479490 File P116215 NULL CURRIE DRD NULL NULL 1897-02-17 Does the DoB suit? Possible to apply for such a file. 1 hour ago, jonbowen said: David also served in WW2 as a 2nd Lt under number 116215, and whilst I know it is off topic I was wondering whether anyone could enlighten me as regard tracking down his WW2 entitlement. The DoB is spot on. Hopefully I get the information as he seems to have had an interesting and long life. Jon
