CWGC cemetery files - difficulty retrieving

Hi all,

The following documents seem to be available to view on CWGC, but when I click the Unique ID (which looks like it should lead somewhere) it times out:

https://archive.cwgc.org/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&id=CWGC%2f7%2f4%2f2%2f13954&pos=1

https://archive.cwgc.org/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&id=CWGC%2f7%2f4%2f2%2f13955+

Has anyone else got this problem? I've tried different browsers to no avail.

Thanks,

Dave

No, 'fraid not. Both refer to burials in two separate locations in Lucan Co. Dublin. One WW1 and one WW2 , the latter one interred per the CWGC in a churchyard, but who now rests elsewhere.  I hoped both documents would solve this mystery and give more info around the WW1 burial.

Timed out for me too.

Where are you getting from?

From a casualty commemoration? or from the CWGC Archive?

From memory/IIRC Archive documents only open if you can see a PDF symbol next to them

Sorry too late to explore CWGC Archives now.

???

Good luck!

Hi Matlock, they're from the CWGC archive and as you can see, they have a clickable link which you would expect to open up something.

I'll contact them and post any updates.

Reply from CWGC:

Thank you for your email.

Selecting the unique identifier of these records will take you to the Tree View of these records to show where they are positioned within the structured hierarchy of the online archive catalogue.

Please note that these files are not available digitally and would need to be consulted onsite. You can book an appointment to visit our Reading Room by contacting visitarchives@cwgc.org. Our Reading Room is open from Monday – Thursday (10:00 – 16:30).

As I rather expected - unless there is a PDF icon then not available digitally.

We continue to live and learn.
