Reading the Army Register in the column Account how is this amount arrived at? Also what is the War Grant written in the column? Thankyou

Interpretaion/explanation is usually so much easier if you could please show us an image of the page entries you are interested in.

For example ... is War Grant actually War Grat[uity]? ... so much easier if we can see in full context so please don't just show individual words = the man's whole line of entires would be best.  TIA

In broad terms the amount shown is likely due back pay etc. - with or without an included War Gratuity [the latter is commonly separately entered]

Albert James Clarke RE 31344 the amount stated is over £56 including War Gratuity £28 how was the amount of gratuity arrived at?
