Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted Sunday at 11:21 Share Posted Sunday at 11:21 I'm not sure it says GWR. It looks more like CWR.
4thGordons Posted Sunday at 12:35 Share Posted Sunday at 12:35 Are the men on the right of the image (light jacket in foreground by the pick and standing above tank looking back over it) French? The helmets appear to be Adrians? (although in the depths of my mind I have a thought that they may have been used early on by tank crews because they were lighter/closer fitting than Brodies?) Gerald Moore
The tank is HMLS Centurion, most probably photographed shortly after Sept. 15, 1916 near The Loop railhead. The nearby troops wearing Adrian helmets are likely to have been French territorials on line of communication duties.
