Perth Digger
I am sure that this cartoon, which I have just seen in the above newspaper for 13 November 1914, was widely printed at the time, but I thought that it might be of interest, The cartoonist's initials are on it, but I can't make them out. Interested
The cartoon looks similar to some I saw a while back in a gutenberg download. Not sure you can search gutenberg without knowing the author's name though.

The name in the bottom RH corner (to my eyes) reads 'FLY' The 'Y' is very similar indeed to that used in the signature of the cartoonist 'SPY' [aka Sir Leslie Ward, who was working until 1922.] See the long tail stretching back left under all three letters, and note the serif on the LH fork of the Y It was not unknown for artists under exclusive contracts to publish work for other titles, but under another pseudonym – is that what was happening here? Perth Digger
It also seems to me possibly to have originated as a Punch cartoon. It's got that heavy "inky" look.
