Queen Mary was lost at Jutland Princess Royal was sold 19th December 1922 to Rosyth Ship Breaking Co. PRINCESS ROYAL 14th November 1912 commissioned for 1st Cruiser Squadron. January 1913 1st Battle Cruiser Squadron. War Service: Flagship 1st Battle Cruiser Squadron. 1915-18. 28th August 1914. Heligoland Bight. 24th January 1915. Dogger Bank, no casualties. Jutland main fire control destroyed by two hits forward ten minutes after action was opened on her. Shell in admiral’s cabin caused casualties to port forward 4” crews, and several fires; “X” turret hit by 12” shell killed four men and put turret out of action; “B” turret hit but not damaged; shell pierced starboard side aft wrecking after engine-room castings and exploded on port side causing casualties to after 4” crews. Numerous fires were extinguished with difficulty owing to failure of all lighting systems and damage to fire mains. 1919-1923 1st Battle Cruiser Squadron discarded under Washington Treaty 1922.
