Here's a question for any Army Service Corps experts:

Could anyone tell me what higher formation 490th Horse Transport Company ASC were attached to? Also, what trade did the prefix T4/ denote on an ASC soldier's number?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Andrew,

Unfortunately I'm not ASC expert (or an expert in much else), but I was led to believe the prefix "T" on their serial numbers referred to the transportation branch.

As for the 4, I read somewhere that it denoted the New Army formation. (ie 4 would be for 4th Army). However on reflection I'm not sure this is correct.

490 Company was always based in UK.

It was 53 Reserve Park, and I believe for some time it was based at Kinmel Park. I guess that puts it into Western Command?
