John Thomas SHAW, he served with 2nd HLI between 1st March 1881 and 24th May 1904, Sgt Major 168, when he was discharged at his own request. He earned Sudan medals & India medal 1895 clasp 'Punjab Frontier' (then a Qtr Sgt Mjr with 2/HLI). He joined up in the Great War and was an original officer with the 20th Bn LF. Sadly dying of illness in 1918. I have his officers file and copy medal rolls, but his 'other rank' file is not with the officers file and not in WO97. I am trying to find info on him for his time in the HLI does anyone have Regt Journals (if the unit published one??) for any period between 1881 - 1904 ?? If so, could they see if Shaw is mentioned and any photo's of him? Any pointers for research would be great. Many thanks Neil.
