Guest Adrian44 Posted 5 September , 2003 Share Posted 5 September , 2003 I would be grateful if any member could post, some general biographical details of Major-General H. de B. de Lisle, (29th Division, 1/7/1916). In advance, my thanks. adrian44.

Clive Harris Posted 6 September , 2003 Share Posted 6 September , 2003 Try and source a copy of his memoirs "Reminiscences of Sport & War" printed by Eyre & Spottiswoods in 1939, you can normally find a copy on abebooks.com for a reasonable price, it contains some nice bits about his war service with the "Imcomparable 29th" including a chapter on the "Some men of marked personality" and more worringly "horses I have known". I believe he wrote another book in the late 19th century along the lines of "The modern players guide to Polo" which is still reffered to today as a bit of a bible for the sport, only played footy at my school I'm afraid, jumpers for goalposts and Charlton Athletic type stuff so its not much use to me!
