There were the 1st, 2nd and 3rd East Lancashire Field Ambulances R.A.M.C.

The first was raised in 1886 under Captain Crockworth.

In 1908 Lt Col J.B. Mann was the C.O.

The three units belonged to the Divisional Troops of East Lancashire Division. HQ in Manchester.

(from His Majesty's Territorial Army)

Thank you gentlemen. Was a bit of a guess on my part but I couldn't think of any other abbreviation for EL.

I think I will give their war diary a view next time I am at Kew.
