Guest wright Posted 25 September , 2003 Share Posted 25 September , 2003 Hi, I am trying to find out about my Granddad. I know he was awarded Military Cross, Croix de Guerre, 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Inter-Allied Victory Medal during the first world war but I do not know what branch of the services he was in. Could you give me any help or advice as to how I can find out more. Thanks for your time. Dave
Guest Hill 60 Posted 25 September , 2003 Share Posted 25 September , 2003 Dave - Have you access to the medals? If so look around the edge and the details will be there. Also, try looking HERE and try finding an entry for his name.
Michael Posted 25 September , 2003 Share Posted 25 September , 2003 Dave If you post his name and rank (from the rim of the British War or Victory Medals) we may be able to help. I'm presuming he ended up as an officer if he got a Military Cross. Most officer service records exist at the PRO unless they carried on serving after the war or re-enlisted. These records are accessible to anyone. Michael
