Guest rsa Posted 9 October , 2003 Share Posted 9 October , 2003 Hello all Hope some one can help with this:- I have my Grandfathers marriage certificate wich says in FEB 1916 he was a SOLDIER at BROMPTON in KENT. Don't know anything more about his army life other than my uncle saying he had been gassed is this possible and how do I obtain more information. Jonathan Saunders Posted 9 October , 2003 Share Posted 9 October , 2003 New Brompton (part of Gillingham) was a garrison town and home to the Royal Engineers, although many other battalions would have also passed through this area in Feb 1916.
