trooper Posted 16 October , 2003 Share Posted 16 October , 2003 Can anyone tell me when the 5th Skins were evacuated from Gallipoli as the Regimental History states mid-October 1915 but I was under the impression that the 10th (Irish) Division left the theatre at the end of September and were in Salonika by this time. Greenwoodman Posted 16 October , 2003 Share Posted 16 October , 2003 Becke's Order of Battle of Divisions states that 10th Div was ordered to move on 29th September 1915. 30th the 3 infantry brigades embarked reaching Mudros the next day. 2nd and 3rd October making up deficiencies. 4th the 29th Bde started embarkation for Salonika, disembarking between the 5th and the 10th. The rest of the division followed. By 24th Oct the bulk of the division had landed in Salonika. So 5th Skins (31st Bde) evacuated 30th Sept, landed Salonika between 10th and 24th October Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
