Jim_Grundy Posted 21 October , 2003 Share Posted 21 October , 2003 Are there any experts out there on the 9th North Staffs? A friend's grandfather won his MM with them (LG November 1917) and I wondered if anyone knew what they were doing July-September 1917, the time when I guess he was awarded the decoration. No doubt it had something to do with Third Ypres but if anyone can help with anything more specific than that, it would be appreciated. Cheers, Jim
Greenwoodman Posted 21 October , 2003 Share Posted 21 October , 2003 They were the Pioneer battalion to 37th Division, which was at the Battles of Pilckem Ridge, Menin Road Ridge and Polygon Wood 31 July to 3 Oct 1917. Not much Jim I'm afraid.
