Martin Hornby Posted 21 October , 2003 Share Posted 21 October , 2003 Can any of the Forum members help me? I am after a structural wiring diagram of the British Army in 1914 showing the size of each level of command from Soldier to Section to Troop To Company right through to Army. Can anyone advise me where to find such a thing? Ideally I need it to show as an example at Battalion level: Battalion - Commanded by Lt/Col - 1007 men . Company - Commanded by Capt/Maj - 100+ men. I hope this makes sense. Martin Hornby
Clive Maier Posted 21 October , 2003 Share Posted 21 October , 2003 This is an attempt I made when I first started researching Oscar Maier and knew absolutely nothing about the army. I still don't know much about army structure and ranks but if pals can provide the facts - and they certainly can - I can draw a diagram easily enough. Martin Hornby Posted 21 October , 2003 Author Share Posted 21 October , 2003 Thanks Clive thats just what I wanted. Now does anyone have a diagram showing the attached support units such as engineers, RAMC etc? Thanks Martin
Clive Maier Posted 21 October , 2003 Share Posted 21 October , 2003 My diagram was a tyro's effort. I drew it up in an attempt to understand units and ranks but I have never known whether it was really correct or complete. I will welcome corrections and additions, and will update the diagram accordingly.
Geoff Parker Posted 22 October , 2003 Share Posted 22 October , 2003 Martin If you look at Becke's Order of Battle series if gives examples of Division structure during the 14-18 period. I have some that I started myself some years ago but they are not complete. Let me have you email address and I will forward them to you off forum Geoff
