StuMac Posted 22 October , 2003 Share Posted 22 October , 2003 Hello from Australia, We (myself, Mum and siblings) migrated out here from Scotland in the early 70's..... After Dad passed away.. My Grandad (who passed away in the 1960s) served in the British Army during WW1, I am trying to find out what medals he was awarded. I think it would be too hard to track his service record as all I know is his name... nothing else. So HOPEFULLY medal records might be easier to find??? Though living out here getting information is a little hard, but hopefully this forum will help me with advice... Thankyou Stuart

Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 23 October , 2003 Share Posted 23 October , 2003 Stu, There are quite a few William McConnells in the medal index card system - do you have any other info such as a middle name or idea of unit? Do you know if he was in a Scottish Regt? Sometimes people have more info than they realise! Ian
StuMac Posted 24 October , 2003 Author Share Posted 24 October , 2003 Hello again from Down Under My Grandad may have been in the Cameronians or another Scottish Regiment for sure in WW1, my Dad was in the Cameronians during WW2. He did not have a middle name just William McConnell, I have found out he was born approx 1889. He was from Kilbarchan Renfrewshire Scotland Thankyou Stuart
