Guest ogriman1 Posted 26 October , 2003 Share Posted 26 October , 2003 Can anyone tell me where the 120 Company of the Chinese Labour Corps served in 1917-1918 and what their work would have been? A relative was in the Royal Scots Fusiliers and was transfered to them for this period before being discharged. Previously he had been a Regular since 1894. Ivor Lee Posted 26 October , 2003 Share Posted 26 October , 2003 The bad news is that none of the War Diaries give any details of the actual work they were doing. However from their locations I would hazard a guess that they were on salvage or general labouring tasks. Anyway here are the locations we have for them, the earliest being January 1918. One problem is that you cannot be certain that where there is a gap in the dates they were permanently at the previous location. (Look at the entries for 3/1/18 and 12/1/18 as an example). 3 January 1918 moves from NOYELLES to POZIERES for MARTINPUICH 12 January 1918 moves from ALBERT to MARTINPUICH 24 March 1918 Withdrawn to MARTINPUICH on the afternoon 24 Mar 18. Coy marched in good order to MEAULTE without loosing a man. 5 April 1918 NOYELLES 16 April 1918 BARLY 21 April 1918 GAUDIEMPRE 5 May 1918 LA HERLIERE 8 May 1918 move to WARLINCOURT 13 May 1918 moves from WARLINCOURT to AIRE 19 May 1918 moves from Sheet 36A/H.9.d.2.3. to Sheet 36B/C.9.b.8.8. Army Map Reference Sheet 36A (H.9.d.2.3. is the map location) 1 June 1918 move from 44B/C.9.b.8.8. to 44B/C.19.a.3.8 15 June 1918 move from ST NICHOLAS to ROUEN No references after this date. I would appreciate your relatives name and his Labour Corps (CLC) regimental number so I cna add him to my data base.
