Robert Dunlop Posted 6 November , 2007 Share Posted 6 November , 2007 Quite right, Martin. I was only thinking of 1914. The quote is not from 'Liaison', so far as I can recall. I believe Jack posted it, and he will know for sure. It could be from Jaeger Battalion 3's war history, or perhaps from von Poseck's book about the German cavalry in 1914. I don't have either with me, one of the down sides of travelling . Robert
SMG65 Posted 6 November , 2007 Share Posted 6 November , 2007 'Advance From Mons 1914' by Walter Bloem. This book is a German officer's account of his battalions encounters with the 'English' in 1914. A superb book, to be read with John Lucy's 'There's A Devil In The Drum' ,as both authors are fighting in the same area. Sean
