Does anyone have a copy of the Roll of Railwaymen who fell in WW1 ?

I am seeking the details entered for S/19755, Pte Edward Adam Souter who fell on 13/8/1917 serving with the 2nd Bn Black Watch ( Royal Highlanders)

Thanks in advance.

I have a copy somewhere; I would add it only confirms their name and what company they worked for. There are no other details. Unless there is another, more detailed roll, I don't know of?

Why not try contacting the Railway Museum at York. I'm sure if they dont hold any

records they could point you in the right direction if you know what rail company

he worked for

Thanks for your reply, I know Adam Souter worked for the Great North of Scotland Railway Company, which was based in Aberdeen. I wondered if the Roll book had details of elistment or date of same.

The roll of honour for the Great North Scotland Railway is shown on pages 46-47 of this publication and gives the following details for your man:

Name - Souter, E.A.

Grade - Clerk

Rank - Pte

Sorry it doesn't tell you much.

I have a relative who is something of a world expert on railways and associated topics. I will drop him a line and ask if he can help.

Thanks to Paul and Matt for your help and kind offer of same.

At least I now know he was a Clerk.

Matt, if your friend discovers more he can e-mail me direct via the website link below.

While you're there, is the soldier below listed on the Roll at all? Anything you can add to the details here?

Cheers
