Take on me Posted 19 August , 2006 Share Posted 19 August , 2006 Is there any possibility that he was in Palestine or Mesopotamia? The only evidence I have for the suggestion is that I have seen photos of troops in those colonies during the 1920s and 1930s wearing the same sort of Pith helmet on display here. Although I am sure such headgear was used in India. Jon
Graham Stewart Posted 19 August , 2006 Share Posted 19 August , 2006 JGM, I think you'll find khaki drill with shorts and the khaki "foreign service helmet" were standard dress throughout the middle and far east for British troops during the hot season. During the winter seasons and depending where you where stationed I think S.D. tunics would be worn also. Graham.

Chris Chris - try as I might I can find no online images of troops wearing this uniform. The collar style appears to be different to most tropical uniforms? Is he definately a British soldier?
