Ian, brilliant photo! What's the story behind it? Where did you find it?

7 KSLI did not embark to France until Sept 1915 so the photo is obviously taken whilst training in the Bournemouth area.

My Grandfather joined the 7th KSLI from the 1st KSLI in July 1916 and died of wounds in September of that year.

Andy,

Nice story. It is amongst one of the many that I have stored in boxes and am just sorting after 20 years or so. I must have bought it in the early 1980's.

E-mail me your e-mail address off forum and I will send you a jpeg file of it.

Hi Ian

Great photo, I am sure I've seen photos like this one at the Regimental Museum, but I still saved this one just in case they do not have it.

By the way the 7th K.S.L.I. left Bournemouth on 2nd May, 1915, for Romsey.

Regards

Annette

Hi Ian

Thank you for posting the photo. It's a good one.

I am researching Pte W. Middleton who was with the 7th Bn. KSLI. He enlisted (according to a slightly inaccurate source) on Feb. 8th 1915 and was kia on 18th August 1916. He is one of the men commemorated on The Rhayader Memorial.

Regards

Myrtle
