isanders Posted 3 November , 2003 Share Posted 3 November , 2003 This appears to be the unit designation on my grandfather's MM. Can anyone tell me what this means? He was in the 2nd Batt Ox and Bucks attached to the 2nd Division, so I'm thinking it could be 2nd Division Signals? Can anyone throw any light? Many thanks Ian
AndrewThornton Posted 3 November , 2003 Share Posted 3 November , 2003 Yes, 2/DS Co RE does mean 2nd Divisional Signal Company. Your Grandfather was most likely with the 5th Brigade Signal Section if he was a 52nd man.
isanders Posted 3 November , 2003 Author Share Posted 3 November , 2003 Many thanks for that, much appreciated. Do you know why his army no for the Ox and Bucks was 9407 and his RE no was 34902? Did you change number when you moved unit?
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 3 November , 2003 Share Posted 3 November , 2003 Yes - when you changed Regt/Corps, you were issued with a new number. IanB
