Born Colchester 20 Feb 1873: 2nd son of Major EJ Robinson; married 1908 Ruth, younger daughter of Major HR Worthington. Educated Cranleigh School and Sandhurst. Commissioned 1st Bn Royal Fusiliers 1892; transferred to the Queen's Own (Royal West Kent ) Regt, 1893; served Indian Frontier 1897; West Africa, 1903 (despatches twice); European War 1914-18 ; commanded Brigade 1915-16- T/ Brig General (despatches five times, Brevet Lt Col, CB); employed under the Colonial Office from 1903 -06 and 1907-1911.
