GALWAY AND THE GREAT WAR

Hello all,

I thought you might like to know about a new title just published in the past two weeks by Mercier Press.

It might make a good read over the Christmas (and NO , I'm not on a commission).

"Galway and the Great War" by William Henry in paperback, price €20.00.

Basically it tells the story of the thousands of Galwaymen who rushed to join up at the outbreak of the war from both city and county and the effects thereof.

Regards,

C.T.

Hello Morrough,

No idea on a signed copy but it is available in Easons. It appears to be a good read from local, military and political angles.

I'm a mean s.o.b, I've dropped the hint for a Christmas present. Well,,,, I'm only trying to be helpful.

Enjoy,

C.T.

I just finished this book and it is a welcome addition to the forgotten Irish voices of the great war .I have a local interest but I especially enjoyed the letters in the book written by some of the combatants to their loved ones and friends at home.

Regards,

Murrough.
