All I know in 1918 he was a Private in the Royal Berkshire Regiment and was a stableman. I know he didn't die in service as when he died he was a mechanic in Bristol can anybody help?????? David Seymour Posted 26 November , 2003 Share Posted 26 November , 2003 The Royal Berkshire Regt War Diaries are online at www.thewardrobe.org.uk There are lots of refs to Bartlett (11 pages) but probably only officers (I haven't checked!). Nonetheless what an amazing resource. I've already used it with my GCSE pupils - great for getting them in touch with the primary source, and of course the search facility enables them to be creative with their investigations. Great! Would that there were more such. Regards, David
Chris_Baker Posted 27 November , 2003 Share Posted 27 November , 2003 Hello mancunian Welcome to the forum. Try clicking on The Long, Long Trail (which you will see top left of this page. When you arrive, go to "Grandad's War", where you will find a whole section devoted to giving you tips on how to research your grandfather.
