Hello Mark,

What shops are selling this book?

Do you know of any books on the Tyrone Volunteers?

Cheers

Is this book only available locally?

Steve

I came across a booklet of songs from Ulster about WWI. Some very moving lyrics;

Now when we charged that morning with a great and mighty yell

Right through the German trenches how far I cannot tell

I prepared myself for heaven but I marched right into hell

Along with the Armagh Brigade

I hear the booming thunder and the stutter of the guns

I hear the angry screaming of Ulster's fallen sons

In this bloody slaughterhouse of the Battle of the Somme

Im dyin' with the Armagh Brigade

I picked up a copy of W J Canning's "A Wheen of Medals - the history of the 9th (Service) Bn. The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers (The Tyrones) in World War One" at the Somme Heritage Centre in Conlig yesterday - that sounds like it might be what you're after - it's a private printing from 2006 but is a pretty substantial work (384 pages). Let me know if you want me to check anything out.

I bought this book quite recently. Excellent, especially the photographs.

The bookshop doesn't list it anymore, nor does Amazon so I've e-mailed the Union Jack shop to ask if they still have it.

Please keep us up to date if there's any response

Mark - any chance of scanning the book for any mention of 1. actions around 1st - 6th October 1918 in Belgium. 2. Any mention of a Samuel Meeke DoW 6th Oct. 1918 (buried Bandaghem). Just got a pic of him today. He was formerly Royal Irish Rifles.

Hi folks 1st posting here so bear with me, the book on the armagh volunteers was written by a friend, he has with in the past week released a book of poetry & verse relating to the uvf during the home rule crisis & ww1, titled "battle songs of ulster"the poems are from research he has conducted on the subject & is a must have for anyone interested in the ulsters, he has another book in the pipeline which hopefully will be availble for christmas. He has set up a very informative website on the uvf formation but due to a serious family accident hasnt been able to update the past few weeks.
