Ladies & Gents'

Pal's

just got back from the Somme where I visted the graves of a Father & Son who served and died together!

Would any of you have any more info on what happened to them or suggest how I could find more info on them please?

They are;

Robert Frederick LEE, age 19. Corporal. Service no 71939.

George LEE. age 44. Service no 6029 Serjeant.

They came from 16 Talfourd Road, Peckham, London.

Both Royal Field Artillery. "A" Battery. 156th Brigade.

CWGC record states died on service in the same incident.

Now buried side by side Dartmoor Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt.

Thanks in anticipation,

Regards,

Scottie.

If it helps anyone to provide more info - the date was 5th September 1916

Cheers

Scottie, that is quite a moving episode. Just cannot imagine how the wife & mother coped. Or brothers and sisters. Unbelievable.

I should think that their local papers some time afterwards would most certainly have done a report of this - probably with photos of them. So if you really want to find more, I'd go via the local newspapers route.
