Hooter Posted 15 December , 2003 Share Posted 15 December , 2003 Greetings All! We’re currently researching one of my wife’s relatives, Driver John James Dorn, Service No. 02574, RASC. He originally did thirteen years service, finishing with the Boer War, but re-enlisted on the outbreak of the Great War. Whilst examining his records at the PRO, I noticed that he had been given a two week furlo’ between 29/6/1918 and 13/7/1918. My question is, was this unusual, given the period? From other sources, we know that he was a widower with seven children, three or four of which were still dependants, and that there were some problems with their placement, so there might have been extenuating circumstances. cheers
