John D Posted 1 January , 2004 Share Posted 1 January , 2004 I would be interested to know the kind of role that these units performed during the war. I have an entry on a soldiers MSM card that reads '27th Motor Airline Section, 'L' Army Corps, Sig Co, R.E., but have never managed to discover much about the unit or its function. Thanks
Chris Noble Posted 2 January , 2004 Share Posted 2 January , 2004 Hi John. Posted a thread on this subject somewhere last year regarding a Sapper who served in the 12th Motor Airline Section, Royal Engineers. Basically they were units of the R.E. Signal Service that erected signal cable on poles as opposed to Cable Sections who ground laid or buried cable. Hope that helps. Regards, Chris.
