jemimajane Posted 5 January , 2004 Share Posted 5 January , 2004 The attached image is of a postcard sent by my grandfather (a POW) to my grandmother. As I don't speak german - could anyone help with the wording? I also have several other postcards sent to my grandfather , one from the Red Cross - showing people packing bread - (which would hardly have cheered him up - as he wrote to my gran that they were starving"). Chris_Baker Posted 5 January , 2004 Share Posted 5 January , 2004 It's a birthday card: "Much happiness on your birthday".
jemimajane Posted 5 January , 2004 Author Share Posted 5 January , 2004 Many thanks - I guessed this might be the case. I assume that the POW's were able to obtain such cards at the camps? My grandfather died when I was 3 years old - and apparently he never spoke much to any of the family about his experiences etc. which I believe was quite common.
