Poshtaff Posted 1 September , 2007 Share Posted 1 September , 2007 I have Just ordered a copy of Stacke's book about the Worcestershire Regiment in The Great War and my son found this book online: http://martin-newman.com Recognition by Martin Newman, which covers the actions of the Worcestershire Regiment in August 1917. I was wondering how much of his research was based on Stacke, has anyone read it? I would like to get copy but it will have to wait a while as it is 32.85 Euros, about £23 according to my son! . I have met Martin a few times and his book is quite a good read. I haven't read Stacke so cannot compare. Martin also has an album out by the same name which is very good. You will be able to find his book cheaper at the 'Flanders Field Museum' or at the Rum-Jar B&B in Ypres, as I believe that where he stays when he visits Ypres. If you can't get a copy before the end of next week, give me a shout and I'll try and get you one a lot cheaper than 32.85 euros.

Thanks for that, I hope to get over to France / Belgium later this year and I'll look it up at the Museum. Your offer to get a copy is very kind but don't worry, I can always get my son to order it as a Christmas present if I don't get one before then. I have a copy of Stacke's book on CD ROM from Midlandshistoricaldata.org and I am trying to read that on screen, it is hard work on the eyes, but very comprehensive.
