Guest sbecker Posted 9 January , 2004 Share Posted 9 January , 2004 Does anyone have any info on this family. Pte George Crick from Yarraville Vic Australia who died on the 24th Sep 1915 in Egypt is shown with the following details; He is shown as enlisting at age 44 but died at age 54. His record shows nine years in the Canadian NWMP (mounties) having been born in the UK and serving with RGA before moving to Canada. His Son? shown as either H. or F Crick left Australia to join either the British Army or Canadian. He is said to be a Reservist for the 1st Grenadier Guards? and to have won the MM and Bar during the war. Can anyone confirm any details on these men by any chance? Thanks for any insight S.B
mordac Posted 9 January , 2004 Share Posted 9 January , 2004 Hi S.B.: There's no Crick (H. or F.) listed on the National Archives of Canada web site. There were 16 men with the surname Crick who served in the CEF, but none meet your criteria. Garth
Broznitsky Posted 9 January , 2004 Share Posted 9 January , 2004 I found a Frank and a Harry Crich, but their details don't match either. Must be BEf. No George Crick or Crich. Peter in Vancouver
Guest sbecker Posted 9 January , 2004 Share Posted 9 January , 2004 Thanks mates, I may have found the son in the London Gazette. There is a Pte F Crick Awarded MM and Bar shown with the 1st Gren Guards. So he must be the man. Thanks for looking. Do you known if the NWMP have something you see if any were members either now or in the past. Cheers S.B

Hi S.B.: If a member of the Royal North West Mounted Police served in the CEF, his war service records would be available from The National Archives of Canada. On the Western Front, the RNWMP were considered Canadian Corps troops. They formed 'A' Squadron of the Canadian Light Horse and were used as reinforcements for the Canadian Light Horse, Canadian Cavalry Brigade and Canadian Tank Corps. The RNWMP also saw service with the Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force as 'B' Squadron. I'd be interested in finding out if NWMP/RNWMP non war service records are available for research purposes. Anybody know? Garth
