Can anyone help or tell me where I can find the citation for the above soldier. The MM was awarded for his actions at Le Cateau on the 26th August 1914 and he survived the war winning a bar later on. His army number is 14956. Are there web sites with this information?

Regards,

Glenn

MM awards are announced in the London Gazette. This is searchable but is notoriously sensitive and difficult to drive. There are some threads on this, with good advice, on the forum. I would try his number first.

If you know where he came from, the best chance of finding anything like a citation is in the local newspaper (usually on microfilm in the local library) for around the time he earned the MM.

Citations for (WW1) MMs aren't in the London Gazette (announcements are, giving you an idea of the date of the award) and I think there are only a scarce few at the NA. Some local regimental museum archives may contain some.

Dave.
