Guest Guard 1 Posted 15 January , 2004 Share Posted 15 January , 2004 Hello, I would love to know some information on the above regiment. I've just got hold of a cap badge. I've tried a search on the internet without success. If anyone could help please. Rowland
tintin1689 Posted 15 January , 2004 Share Posted 15 January , 2004 This is very rare badge. This battalion formed part of the Volunteer Force of the County of London. The volunteer force of 1914-18 were part-time home defence soldiers (ie too old or young for the army or inreserved occupations) similar to the Home Guard of WW2. There were Motor Transport and Medical units as well as infantry. When I get home I will post you the battalion number and what group it belonged to. London County Volunteers were strong enough to be organised into groups (equivalent to brigades)
tintin1689 Posted 16 January , 2004 Share Posted 16 January , 2004 The United Arts formed part of the 1st Bn County of London Volunteers along with elements of the Kensington Volunteers. 1st Bn was part of the Central Group along with 2nd Bn - Inns of Court reserve Corps, 3rd Bn - Old Boys Corps and 4th Bn - London Volunteer Rifles
